This is a request to help Ms Aathira Balachandran, age 24yrs who is in need for an emergency live donor liver transplant as a result of severe Jaundice which was detected late. Her Liver got completely damaged. She is admitted in Amrita Hospital, Cochin in the Surgical ICU and Transplantation Unit [Tower 4, floor 1]. Her mother consented to be the liver donor and the operation was performed on Jan 15 2012. The operation went well, and she is under observation. The total cost of the treatment is estimated to be around Rs 15 lakhs. The college staff and relatives were able to raise up to Rs 5 lakhs till now. Let us join together to help her. Update : Jan 30 A very sad news. Athira passed away today morning due to heavy chest infection. Her mother has recovered and will probably get discharged from the hospital today. Her mother had suffered a heart attack after the operation (she was the live donor for the liver transplant) and was in a critical stage for some time. But now she has recovered.
